The World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final between Australia and South Africa is being played at the Mecca of Cricket, Lord’s. The game has progressed at lightning speed, and the odds are high that the match will see a result on Day 3 itself. The Aussies are slightly ahead in the match and have a lead of 218 runs. However, the Proteas would also feel they have a great chance of winning the match.
Why are players wearing Black Armbands?
The Australia and South Africa players came out wearing black armbands. This was done to mourn the loss of lives during the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. For the unversed, an Air India Boeing 787 from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after takeoff, causing heavy casualties, on June 12.
Apart from the Aussies and Proteas, the Indian players currently indulged in a practice match also wore armbands to pay their tribute.
