The Sioux Falls Canaries have swept the Pointstreak batter and pitcher of the week awards for the week ending 7/14, as infielder Josh Rehwaldt and starter Tanner Brown earn the honors, the league introduced Monday.
A starter in subsequent week’s all-star sport, Rehwaldt was the highest run producer within the league this week. He went 10-for-23 on the plate (.435) with three doubles, one homer and eight RBI.
The spotlight of his week got here again on Wednesday when he hit a house run and drove in 4 runs in a 9-1 win for the Canaries towards Gary-SouthShore.
That is Rehwaldt’s second season in Sioux Falls after he spent a while with them again in 2019. He spent the earlier three seasons with the New Jersey Jackals of the Frontier League.
On the pitching aspect, his teammate in Brown made two nice begins this week, totaling 14 innings and permitting only one earned run.
Brown’s first outing of the week was his greatest, going eight innings towards the RailCats on Tuesday whereas hanging out six and permitting one run. Then he adopted that up with six shutout innings on Sunday towards Winnipeg with seven punch-outs.
The native child who performed his school ball at Augustana in Sioux Falls is in his second yr within the league and first with the Canaries. He’s fourth within the AAPB with a 2.84 ERA and second in wins with seven.
