Kenya: Three Strikes That Earned Kenyan Athlete Two-Yr Ban From AIU

Nairobi — The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has slapped Kenyan athlete Kennedy Kiprop Cheboror with a two-year ban after three whereabout failures.

The 2019 Gyeongju Marathon champion was first cited for a whereabout failure on November 6 final 12 months after he was unavailable at his Kapsabet athletics coaching camp for an anti-doping check.

“The DCO (doping management officer) and the DCA (doping management agent) met a person who knowledgeable them that the Athlete was in his low season at his house (and consequently not on the camp tackle the place he resided throughout the coaching season). The person referred to as the athlete and knowledgeable the DCO and the DCA that the athlete had stated that he was in Eldoret and wouldn’t have the ability to make it to the camp tackle inside the 60-minute time slot,” the report reads.

On the second event, it was revealed that the athlete had modified his administration and was not coaching on the camp.

The athlete defended himself saying that he had assumed his whereabouts info had been up to date to his present location.
